Suicide Prevention Day
Living a life is tough but it is worthy enough to strive. A human needs courage to continue their journey of living. To raise awareness among students on how to cope with their suicidal thoughts, the department of psychology in collaboration with counselling centre and FOLC had organised a program. On 11th September ,2024 morning students gathered near the college chapel. Students of other departments were stamped on their hands that refers “I LOVE MYSELF”. The students must realize that loving and prioritizing themselves can solve a lot their negative thoughts and problems. Stamping on hands were initiated by Psychology students in the main entrance, for both shift 1 and 2
Models that articulate the importance of Suicide prevention day were created by students and those were presented to the passers-by. Explaining the models in the Stall to students, teachers, and Fathers as well. Deepening the understanding on how lack of support, love and affection can cause negative thoughts is significant. Stall Presentation was continued for both 1st and 2nd shifts. People were given awareness on this important issue. This was to raise awareness thus Flashmob was arranged by the psychology students and FOLC students to appreciate Self-loving and bringing joy to life. Stall was content with few mind games and few models that give an explanation of People having no control over their past life, future happening, etc but that shouldn’t stop them from living thus they should focus on living a better life by trying to finding the purpose of life. Lack of affection can make people think of their stressful life so a small moment of kindness from people’s sides can help others to strive living rather than choosing to end their life.
Break Intervals for 1st and 2nd Shift were utilised to extend the meaning of “I LOVE MYSELF”. Around 160 students of psychology department and 30 students of FOLC participated in Flashmob. Songs that hype the bottled up emotions were played and All gathered students danced with slogans “ SAY NO TO SUICIDE , SAY YES TO LIFE” announced .
