Report on Basic Counselling Skills

A residential programme for 3days was conducted by the department of psychology in collaboration with Fountain institute of counselling psychotherapy for UG 3rd year students.
Day:1 (19/9/2024)
The first day has started with ice breaker where we introduced ourselves and stated the class with introduction to counselling and basics steps in counselling, we learned about body language and about mirroring. We learned about visual kinetics disassociation therapy. After the break we continued with the steps in counselling.
Day: (20/09/2024)
Second day we learned about squaring, seating arrangement, eye blocking, kinds of listening, ego stages and kinds of psychological games after the break we learned about the skills needed in counselling technique. We practiced VKD therapy and counselling with our friends.
Day:(21/09/2024)
Day 3 we learned and practiced umbilical cord therapy and cleared our doubts. After the break. A convocation ceremony was held. The master of ceremony was done by Saranya and Abishek.the welcome speech was by Poovizhi. Certificates were distributed by Chief guests. By the end of the event vote of thanks was proposed by Shifana Parveen. On the whole, the programme gave the students an opportunity to learn about the counselling and the skills required to become a counsellor.
