Mental Health Day

Introduction

On September 28th, the Department of Counselling and Psychology organized a program to commemorate World Mental Health Day, with the theme “Let’s Prioritize Your Mental Health in the Workplace.” The program aimed to raise awareness about mental health issues and promote emotional well-being among students and staff.

Morning Session (7:30 AM)

The event began at 7:30 AM with Psychology students greeting the attendees and sticking personalized batches to the participants. Following this, the students were invited to visit various stalls set up by the department. These stalls featured informational boards on several key topics related to mental health.

The topics covered at the stalls were:

  1. Introduction to Mental Health Day (with a focus on workplace mental health)
  2. 7 Steps to Motivate Yourself
  3. Emotional Intelligence
  4. Signs of Toxic and Healthy Relationships
  5. Emotional Bonding
  6. Human Mindset
  7. How to Cope with Stress
  8. Power of Positive Self-Talk
  9. Positive Thinking

Psychology students explained these topics in detail to other department students and faculty members. Their explanations were informative, engaging, and offered practical advice for improving mental health and well-being. Additionally, there was a photo booth where students could capture moments from the event, adding a fun and interactive element to the program.

Afternoon Session (12:30 PM)

The afternoon session conducted for shift 2 students, started at 12:30 PM. Once again, batches were distributed, and students were invited to the stalls to learn about the various mental health topics. Psychology students provided thorough explanations and interacted with the audience, fostering an open dialogue about mental health. The program was well-received by both students and staff, with many participants expressing appreciation for the informative and engaging format.

Conclusion

The World Mental Health Day event successfully raised awareness about the importance of mental health, especially in the workplace. By providing students with valuable knowledge and coping strategies, the Department of Counselling and Psychology contributed to a healthier and more supportive campus environment.
